AI-Enabled Bio-Inspired Materials and Ecosystem (AI-BIOME)

A team of scientists, led by researchers at The City College of New York’s Center for Discovery and Innovation (CCNY CDI) and the Advanced Science Research Center at the CUNY Graduate Center (CUNY ASRC), working with Brookhaven National Laboratory, and other academic and industry partners has been awarded an $18.1 million National Science Foundation award to create a cloud-programmable national laboratory that uses artificial intelligence and robotics to speed the discovery, design, and production of advanced bio-inspired materials. The team includes IDEALS faculty Rein Ulijn and Raymond Tu.  CCNY faculty and IDEALS collaborator Professor Ronald Koder will serve as the Principal Investigator. AI-BIOME—is one of 20 inaugural projects selected for funding by the NSF’s Test Bed: Toward a Network of Programmable Cloud Laboratories program.
