Dr. Gokay Adabasi appointed as the first CCNY Presidential Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Dr. Gokay Adabasi is the newly appointed Presidential Postdoctoral Research Associate at the City College of New York (CCNY). Dr. Adabsi came to CCNY from the University of North Dakota, where he was a postdoctoral scientist working with Professor Nuri Oncel of the Physics and Astronomy Department at UND. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of California Merced in Mechanical Engineering, working under the direction of Professor Mehmet Z. Baykara. His previous research deals with the development and implementation of advanced scanning probe techniques, including Conductive and Kelvin Probe Atomic Force Microscopy, for the characterization of novel emergent materials.

At CCNY he has joined the Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) laboratory and the NSF CREST Center IDEALS where he plans to explore the growth of novel quantum materials and semiconductor nanostructures and investigate their physical properties and potential applications.

The CUNY Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship is a newly created position supported by the Provost’s office at CCNY and initiated by the NSF CREST Center IDEALS. The highly competitive program is intended to attract and recruit outstanding diverse postdoctoral researchers in the area of materials science for potential academic opportunities at CCNY upon completion.
