IDEALS II Faculty, Prof. Kyungwha Park, Awarded Fulbright Fellowship

GO BACK

IDEALS Professor Kyungwha Park of Virginia Polytechnic Institute was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship entitled "First-principles studies of proximity-induced topological superconducting heterostructures," (June-July, 2023 June, July 2024). Her work is hosted by the Wigner Research Center for Physics in Budapest, Hungary. Prof. Park plans to implement novel theoretical approaches that may allow strong electron correlation to be properly accounted for in the superconducting state at the first-principles level for superconducting heterostructures.

Professor Park is a theoretical and computational physicist whose research interests involve electronic, magnetic, and transport properties of spin-orbit-coupled nanostructures and their interactions with local and external environmental factors. She uses density-functional theory (DFT), Monte Carlo simulations, and effective model Hamiltonian with parameters obtained from DFT.

Congratulations, Prof. Park!
