$5M NSF Phase II IDEALS grant awarded!
Our Phase II CREST Center for Interface Design and Engineered Assembly of Low-dimensional Systems (IDEALS II) proposal received favorable reviews and was awarded by the National Science Foundation as a $5M grant for 5 years, with a start date of September 1, 2021. Three new Subprojects: Emergent Quantum Materials, Bioinspired Reconfigurable Materials to Scale, and Frontiers in Photonics will be purused by a team of 24 faculty from Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. A multi-institutional effort involving CCNY, the CUNY-ASRC, Lehman College, Brooklyn College, the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and Virginia Tech will address these forefront research thrusts and will implement educational and outreach strategies to enhance the experience of our students and promote an inclusive and diverse STEM community at CCNY and CUNY.
