Summer Internships for IDEALS Fellows Candice Forrester and Baseemah Rucker

Two IDEALS Fellows, Candice Forrester and Baseemah Rucker had exciting summers this year. They spent their summers away from their home labs, acquiring new experiences by participating in two different internships.

Candice had the opportunity to work at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in Idaho Falls under the mentorship of Dr. Brelon J. May. As a summer research deposition intern, Candice had three main tasks: research design, materials growth, and mentorship. One part of her internship involved designing experiments to start to test and optimize thin film structures that would yield the most desired results

Baseemah worked at Boston Scientific as a Research and Development Engineering Intern in the Urology Department at the Marlborough, Massachusetts Headquarters. While there, some of her work included working with the SpaceOAR Hydrogel research team, formulating sample hydrogels for product demonstrations to Urologists.
